Great neck with a bit of work.

I bought this neck to replace a twisted one on a 90’s American Standard Stratocaster. As always the Solo team was great checking the fret work out for me before shipping it and getting it to me in a hurry. The neck its self is fantastic but it did need a bit of work out of the box. The woodwork was great with no odd carves or any irregularities. The fret work was far better than I expected and the edges were rolled nicely, the frets did need a final polishing bu that may have been due to transit, humidity change and etc. The nut was very disappointing. It was extremely high, the slots were off and the high e had guide slots in two places. Just buy the Graphtech nut with the radiused bottom if you buy this neck. The finish was also a bit disappointing. It is a satin finish, but seemed like it was almost powdery. I personally dislike satin finished necks and much prefer a slippery high gloss one, so after compounding, polishing and using swirl mark remover I had it like glass.

After the nut was changed and the finish correction the neck is fantastic, I actually prefer it to the American Professional necks I have on other Stratocasters. It’s a little lighter, slightly brighter and the roasted look is fantastic. I gave it 4 stars due to the nut and finish, but after the work it’s 5 stars.
