The incredible new Free-Way Blade switches represent the ultimate in tonal flexibility. 6-position and 10-position Blade models look and feel just like traditional blade switches – except that they provide an additional bank of positions where all the ‘missing’ pickup combinations are instantly available. Completely intuitive to use, retro-fittable and visually undetectable – the Free-Way Blade switches provide unrivaled tonal freedom.
The 3B3-01 model delivers 6-position Free-Way switching in a Blade format which is directly interchangeable with conventional 3-way selectors. The lower bank of 3 positions delivers the familiar neck/both/bridge pickup combinations just as normal – but the upper bank configures the two pickups: in series; in series reverse phase; in parallel reverse phase, thereby providing every possible tonal combination from a two pickup guitar. Alternatively the 3B3-01 can be used with dual humbuckers which can be configured as above or coil-split in the upper bank. Visually undetectable when fitted, the 3B3-01 delivers incredible tonal flexibility in a completely intuitive, familiar package.

Having bought the Free-Way 5/10 switch for my Strat Partscaster I quickly became a fan. Liking it so much that i ordered the 3/6 switch for my Tele. I had been using a 4 way and enjoying it, however the possibility to explore more tone choices was more than I could resist. It is so easy to wire up, and just as easy to reconfigure in different ways, it’s the perfect switch for a tone chaser. My only regret is that I didn’t learn about Free-Way switches until the last few months. But I am really glad I did. For a (they say…) addicted modder it’s right up my alley.
There simply isn’t an easier manner of reaching the number of tonal possibilities that the Free-Way switch offers. And in all honesty, most of the more difficult ways you can go never offer this much in the end.
For the money – it’s a no-brainer really. Not to sound like a commercial here, but if you want to explore more tonal possibility I don’t know of a better way to get there than this.
