I bought the GRAPH TECH BLACK TUSQ XL EPIPHONE STYLE SLOTTED NUT to replace the nut that was installed on my Solo SGK-1 guitar kit (SG model). I talked with a Solo rep over the phone and he checked for me before ordering. Since I wanted to make sure this nut would fit this kit, his help was really appreciated. Thanks again, Solo!

So, the nut arrived within a few days (quick delivery as always!) and I installed it. The nut has a nice ring to it compared to the plastic nuts normally found of most guitars. The string spacing was perfect and, of course, I had to sand the base down until I got the proper string height at the first fret. I am very happy with it. This was a wise (and small) investment and I think I am going to order one for my next kit.

After checking with Solo customer service to make sure I got the right one, it arrived quickly. It took a bit to file and sand the bottom and sides down just a bit, easily done. I don’t know if it’s the new bridge, new stings, or the new nut, but it sounds like a different guitar. Noticeably louder, acoustically, without plugging in, it just rings more. It may be that the hollow plastic nut that came with the kit neck was just so bad that literally anything would have been an improvement, but there is no denying that this nut sounds A LOT better. I’m impressed.

Purchased a black and a white 6060-00 Epiphone style nut. One was used to replace the bone nut on a Sire L7 Larry Carlton. Great guitar but the bone nut was slotted and shaped quite poorly.(which was surprising given the quality of the guitar) With some time spent filing and sanding to correct depth and thickness, it works beautifully.
The other nut was used on a 1997 Yamaha Pacifica 812W. For whatever reason, Yamaha chose plastic back in the 90’s and neither GraphTech nor Yamaha produces a quality nut for these great guitars. So I had to be creative. The Tusq XL-6060-00 is the closest to the Yamaha’s original nut and again with some detailed filing and sanding to mirror the original nut, it works perfectly. So my advice to anyone who owns a Yamaha Pacifica from the 90s, the string spacing on the Tusq nut is bang on. You will have to reduce the height and thickness. Just take your time and continually compare to the original.

Really nice upgrade for guitars. Needed lots of sanding the base and sides to get it just right. Not just a stick on and go. I imagine this would accommodate many styles of playing.

Have installed this on my Epi ES 339 without mods and it fits perfectly. Had to raise the bridge about a 1/64 of an inch to get my preferred clearance at first fret/first string. I’ve used Graph Tech nuts on my Solo build projects as well. Excellent product!!

With a little sanding, this fit my 2004 Epiphone Les Paul Standard perfectly. A very nice improvement. The Staff at Solo were incredible.
