  1. Allen Stanbury (verified owner)

I used this to replace the controls in 40 year old Vantage PJ bass. The parts were well made and installed easily. I made an approximate scale drawing of the control layout on a cardboard box, mounted the controls and jack on the box. Wiring them together on the box was way easier and faster than in the guitar. I dropped the harness into the guitar, connected the pickups and was … done almost. I had to insulate the outside of the “hot” spring clip that connects to the tip of the guitar cord because it had inadvertently come into contact with tin foil shielding inside the control cavity. A little electrical on the outside of the jack and securing the shielding and I was done.

PS: Solo service was great. Items were in stock, shipped same day, arrived by UPS two days later with lots of email keeping me advised of the status.

Big disppointment: Solo was very hard to find. And it was not their fault. Every search for every part in my order was flooded by hits from Amazon, almost all American vendors even when I selected “Canada Only”. After several hours of searching, I frustration with Amazon grew and I finally fought back. I asked Bing/Chat GPT to “Give me a list of retailers selling replacement parts for electric guitars in Ontario”. Bang…there was Solo located in Concord, one of only two in the list. Unfair competition by Amazon is killing local and excellent Canadian retail. The same is true for hardware stores and almost every other retailer in Canada. If you want to buy local try Bing/Chat GPT.
