Description

Mr. Gilmour needed a pumped up sound for his famous Black Strat, so Seymour wound what became the Custom Staggered. It has been, and continues to be, an honor to work with such a legend. The Custom Staggered is a special overwound single coil that strikes the perfect balance between increased output and bouncy Stratocaster tonal character. It will deliver bigger, fatter chords, and will cut through the mix more clearly than a traditional Strat pickup, without losing the sparkle that makes a Strat sound so unique.

Single notes will be bold and loud, and your solos will really sing.Use in the bridge position with pair of Vintage Staggered strats in the neck & middle for the Gilmour style setup.  Or use an SSL-5 in the neck and bridge with a SSL-5 RWRP in the middle for noiseless setup in the 2nd and 4th positions. The bobbins are built with hand ground alnico 5 rod magnets, lacquered then wound and are wax potted for squeal free performance. We use modern oval Forbon flatwork (non-triangular) which enables this pickup to fit into any guitar that is routed for single coils.

Features

  • The ultimate overwound Strat single coil pickup, found in the bridge position of the David Gilmour Signature Fender Stratocaster.
  • High-output single-coil Stratocaster pickup
  • Great for Texas blues rock, classic rock, and heavy rock

Fantastic pickup. I have a 2008 Fender American Standard Stratocaster and I’ve always loved the neck and middle pickups, but the bridge pickup was somewhat lacking/anemic (it was so lame sounding that I never used it). This pickup feels right at home with the others. It has all of the spank and sparkle you’d expect, but with additional girth. It sounds great when clean, high gain, and everything in between. My Strat is also wired to disengage the bridge tone control when turned to ten and this pickup loves it.
