Nice project, You will need to be patient with sanding and peeping the wood for finishing. But it pays off in the end.
I stained mine with 2 different colours and then clear coated.
All parts were perfectly cut and fit well when assembling.
    Sounds great.
Well worth the price, and time and effort to finish.

I bought this as my first (of many I hope) kit. I talked at length with Matt and his suggestion was to build it as it comes, then if you want change things out.
I followed this suggestion, and I am glad I did.
Things I have noted, and this is for all kit guitars that come with the sanding sealer applied from the factory: you must remove it before you stain or dye anything. If you are going to paint – then you are good to go after a simple sanding. To remove the sealer, I used a paint stripper – it was the only thing that would not ruin the wood and not leave streaks – I hate the streaking. With the sealer gone, I was able to dye the body crimson red and then neck walnut brown. After many coats of high gloss lacquer, it was colour sanded to a high gloss. Beautiful.
Fretwork needed to be done, but it was relatively minor (I like a low action, so higher action was fine out of the box).
An upgrade I did, specific to this kit, was replacing the bridge/saddle with a floating rosewood one – big difference on the acoustic capability. This was not easy and did require much thought and measurement – but worked out perfectly in the end. Now my ES175 looks like the Gibson counterpart (but with my name on it instead)

Would I buy another – in a heartbeat. Actually there are a few on the list including the acoustic guitars. I have plans…..

thanks Matt and the team at Solo – you guys rock!

Kit was complete and easy to assemble, particularly for my first project. Was pleased with the kit and the outcome.

This my first kit so I was somewhat apprehensive about what the final product was going play and sound like. I needn’t have worried. I just finished my last setup tweaks and the playability is as good as any of my other guitars. I was really impressed by how low I could get the string action. Really impressed. Set my neck relief to 0.01 with no issues whatsoever. I did have to file the nut slots down a bit but that was minor and expected. There was one high spot on the 8th fret but I was really patient with a file, so easy fix. The next time I change strings (which will be soon with the amount of time spent playing this guitar) I will be giving the frets a quick pass with some fine grit sandpaper as they’re a little rough.
The neck/body fit was perfect. Checked it once then glued and clamped. The rest of the hardware and electronics was a breeze.
The neck and body sanded smooth as glass. No blemishes at all. I went clear coat and it looks absolutely stunning.
The neck feels great and easy to play. Pretty good at staying in tune. I was pleased that it has more “heft” than I expected. She feels like a rock solid guitar. Really fun to play.
Straight into the amp and she has great tone on all settings, with some light reverb shes even better, hit it with some trem and shes spooky as hell.
Bottom line, these folks are selling a quality product. I had a blast with this project from beginning to end. Very happy with the final outcome. 100% chance I’ll be trying another kit.
