I purchased this kit as my first guitar project build. Mine came with cream colored pick guard and pick-up surrounds, and gold tuners and bridge set up. Overall quality of the body and neck were good, one minor small blemish in the flame maple veneer close to the binding. The overall quality of the hardware, tuners, bridge parts were good.
I finished the body and neck to about 90%, then glued the neck to the body. This working out well as once the neck was fixed to the body I completed the remainder of the wood finish. I stained the flame maple first, then applied color toners to clear water based top coat to achieve a nice deep toned finish on the body and neck. Wet sanded the final clear top coats and buffed to a mirror finish, looks like a high end finish you’d on a PRS or Gibson. The wood finishing took three weeks, the actual assembly, soldering, and final set up only took about four hours to complete. I was very surprised with how well it sounded using the electronics provided in the kit. The nut required only a small tweaking on the low E string to lower the action on that one string only, all the rest were good.
The frets needed a small amount of filing at the ends to make them easier on the fingers, but they were installed against the fret board just fine. The neck needed about 1/2 turn on the truss rod to put the neck in proper relief, no twists and straight, and the inlays look nice. Overall I’m very happy with how it looks and sounds. As a result I purchased my second Solo kit, this time it’s a Strat style. Lastly the reason for four stars is due to the blemish on the flame maple, I worked around it but would have been perfect if it wasn’t for that.

Second kit from Solo. The kit went together nicely. I ended up changing out all of the hardware to chrome since i’m not a fan of the gold/brass look.
Pros: Guitar sounds, feels, and plays incredible. After a small set up and minimal clean up on fret ends, leveling, and crowning it played like a dream.
Cons: Really biggest reason for not a 5 star review is the glue lines. The glue line down the center and then along the binding were/are very noticeable. Very frustrating to spend the $$$ on this one to have that on the veneer.
All in all, the guitar sounds amazing, looks great with how the veneer took the dye, and then was a fun learning working with the F holes wiring everything. Will likely be buying another kit soon.
