This unfinished guitar kit has everything for building your own TC Style Electric Guitar You will need only some basic tools and finishing supplies. This kit includes all parts and step-by-step instructions to build a complete, playable custom guitar. All challenging wood cutting, drilling and shaping is already done professionally, as well as fret leveling and dressing.

Not very easy to find left handed kits so was thrilled to find this one, especially because I was looking for a “Telecaster” kit.
EXCELLENT:
– The build quality is really high, two piece body, grain is nice enough, definitely worth sanding and staining if that’s the finish you’d like.
– The binding is done really well.
– Despite the description saying the neck is unfinished maple, it came pre-finished with a clear lacquer that feels nice, can be sanded easily however
– Neck has a nice tight fit into the body, dead straight
– Routing is done very well, all of the hardware fits fine.
– The bridge and saddles feel nice and solid, good quality
FINE:
– The frets need some polishing but overall are decent
– The holes drilled through the body for the wiring were done prior to the “solderless” connections were fitted and are too small, getting them through the holes to the control unit can be difficult, needed some wire taped to the connection to pull it through gently.
– Rosewood fingerboard has a lovely soft feel to it
– Solderless connections fit together easily, each wire is tagged with a number corresponding to a number on the control unit
– Hardware feels good quality metal
NOT GREAT:
– Unbranded pots and pickups, could be an area of upgrade later
– Unbranded tuners, these are maybe the worst part of this kit, really not great, definite need of an upgrade later
– One of the connections on the control unit had come off the solder connection requiring re-soldering, not a huge deal but could be tough/disappointing for a first time builder who doesn’t have either a soldering iron or experience.
OVERALL:
If you’re the first time kit builder, this is EASILY the best kit when you consider quality to cost. Yes, there are some upgrades needed later to make this a very high quality guitar, but can be functional right “out of the box”. Be prepared to add some parts/tools to the kit before buying like the shielding paint, or shielding foil. This kit comes with all of the holes pre-drilled, but if you’re looking to upgrade to a through body bridge (Telecaster Plus) you will need to drill those holes yourself plus buy the ferrules separately. Also for finishing this guitar, have an idea ahead of time how you’d like to finish it. Buy 240, 600, 1000, 1500 grit sanding paper plus ANY finishing stain or spray beforehand. Depending on where you live, like here in Ireland, those items can be tough to find. After finishing mine, it feels great, plays great, pretty much on par with the Tele Player series.

After upgrading a few cheap axes I got the itch to build my own guitar. My research said telecasters are the way to go on the first build and that was the case here. I don’t know how to solder so the solderless option was a no brainer for few extra bucks. The guitar box came quickly and on time. Everything came exactly as described and every hole was drilled perfectly. I have very little skill as far as building and I was totally capable of putting it together. I started by sanding the body from 60 to 400. I did the same with the neck but started at 220 to 400
The body is stained and coated with poly. The neck is coated with linseed oil and feels amazing. The tuners are ok but I’m changing them out along with the bridge pickup. I can’t put imy tele down and will definitely be trying another guitar at some point.
