The String Butler addresses frustrating tuning issues found on many guitars with a 3 + 3 headstock configuration. The String Butler’s Patented Design attaches to the head of your guitar and corrects the angle of the strings as they pass through the nut. This guitar mod greatly improves the tuning stability of your guitar and it looks fantastic doing it!
If the design of a guitar headstock doesn’t position the machine heads directly in line with the slot in the nut, then high friction is generated between the nut and the string. This friction makes it difficult to tune the guitar accurately and the tuning may change while you are playing. In severe cases it is also difficult to turn the machine heads which can damage them. The String Butler sends the strings straight through the nut which reduces this troublesome friction.
The String Butler is designed to address well known tuning stability issues on guitars similar to, but not limited to, Gibson or Epiphone Les Pauls, SG’s, ES 335 Style, Archtops and Acoustic guitars.
To avoid possible damage to the instrument, it is recommended the installation of “The String Butler” to be installed by a professional but can be installed by yourself. To ensure optimum performance of “The String Butler” a new set of guitar strings should be installed.
All “String Butler” models are supplied two PVC washers to protect the finish from scratches. These PVC discs are placed over the tuning pins and placed under “The String Butler”. Check on the dimensional data in millimeters (mm) required from centre post to centre post. There are no restrictions on string gauge.

String Butlers are great for keeping your Gibsons, Epiphones and other 3+3 guitars in tune. I have put String Butlers on all of my 3+3 guitars (4 Gibsons, 3 Epiphones and 1 Ibanez). It greatly stabilized any tuning issues I had due to the angle of the strings being pulled sideways on the nut by the tuners when doing bends, etc. I will continue to buy String Butlers for any 3+3 guitars I buy in the future where the tuners pull the string sideways against the nut.
