The first one I ordered from a place in China showed up and there was no connection from the winding to the wire. Frustrated, I wanted to fix this problem right away. All the other low cost pickups were all from China and did not have a reasonable expectation for delivery.
For a slightly higher cost, and the knowledge that Solo Music Gear stands behind what they sell (you do a good job Matt) I ordered this Wilkinson pickup.
I am not a bass player, and do not have an ‘ear’ for what a good pickup should sound like, but in my opinion, this sounds excellent. My finger mashing of the strings is clean and clear unless I put it through distortion – yessir this is very much a good deal
Too bad I wasted money on the slow boat from the far east – but you live and learn.
From now on, I am checking Solo first before I go overseas

The pickup has great sound, and dropped into the standard JB pickup rout I made on a build. Very full sound, and cannot go wrong for the price. This pickup sounds better than the DiMarzio one I have in another bass. About the only criticism is that the writing on the cover isn’t lined up and it looks kinda weird so before I can give it to the buyer I need to figure something out there.
