Bought the turquoise, whole wheat, black, and blue (azure)….all worked very well…i donr think id use any other stain brand…and for east coast canadians, if you go to kents building supplies they sell it too,but they have a free color chart that shows many mixing combinations using this saman stains

Seems like a very good product. Easy to apply and doesn’t seem to raise the grain. It dries quickly so it’s important to keep the applicator (cloth, sponge) moving and for an even coat try to avoid going back over just stained areas.

Nice colours. Tried the cherry, black, turquoise and am really happy with how nicely it applies, but also the richness of the colours.

Great Quality stains, I use cherry and antique walnut the most….you can water down these stains to increase transparency and lighten the shade, I do this often. I have best success using old cut up t-shirts vs. sponges….I apply the stain liberally and wipe off the excess, repeat until desired shade/tone is achieved.

Fantastic stain. This stuff does the trick in 1 coat, it also mixes well with other colors to help create a more custom look. Very impressed with the stains I purchased. Also, very impressed with the customer service from Matt. Thanks Solo.

Great stain! I purchased the black and cherry colours, and found that they look great on maple. Being water-based, it can also be thinned out with water to build up to a depth that I was looking for. The stain has incredible coverage, and even doing lots of tests on scrap wood plus the final project, I had lots of stain left over. (Sounds like another project is in order!)

I bought the sesame and the cherry with the aim of creating a cherry sunburst. I applied the sesame to the entire guitar body and to the neck and let it dry for a day or more. After attempting my sunburst I was dissatisfied with the result so I opted for just solid cherry. I did get a very nice color, but because my guitar body is alder and I hadn’t used any pre-stain product I found that there was an uneven buildup of stain in certain areas. I also noticed that after several days of drying that the stain would come off onto my hands or latex gloves if there was even the slightest bit or perspiration. Also I saw the same result with I applied the first coat (I still have several more planned) of water-based polyurethane. There was a slight pinkish hue when I reloaded my applicator as I coated the body. I restirred the polyurethane and applied an initial coat to the neck. There was none of the sesame stain color transferred. As a side note I did a light sanding of the areas where the stain had build up with a 600 grit Shinex pad and I was able to achieve a slightly reliced look as some of the sesame began to show through.

Went with forest green and emerald. Really popped.

I bought the navy blue and the color is very strong. I wanted to have a see trough color but I ended up with a solid color. Maybe I put to much stain or I should have thinned the stain with water. After the first coat the color was uneven and I went for another coat and that’s when I ended up with a solid color. It was my first experience as staining a guitar and I think I had to much stain, you have to use a little and spread it all over the body if you want a see through look. But really good stain.

I was looking for the Emerald green which is not available in my local hardware stores… but found that Solo
had it in stock, great. I only use Saman stains and varnish. For the back and sides of the guitar I used it as is and
for the Ash Burl Top I thinned it with 30% water to make it more transparent. It worked great and looks fantastic.
I love Saman’s products, fast dry, no smell, very forgiving and do not raise the wood grain. I still buff the surface with the grey
Scotch Brite pads before appying the varnishé
