Description

Scotch-Briteâ„¢ is a unique surface conditioning product with abrasives incorporated into non-woven nylon fibers. Combining abrasives with the fibers creates an abrasive system that delivers consistent results over the life of the product. The open web material is load resistant and keeps the abrasive minerals cutting at high performance by limiting clogging of the nylon fibers.

Scotch-Briteâ„¢ hand pads measure 6′ x 9′ in size and can be used right out of the box by hand.

7445 (White) – Ideal for gentle cleaning frets and hardware.  Performance is similar to steel wool grade 0000 without rusting or splintering
7447 (Maroon) – Very fine grade aluminum oxide abrasives cut fast and fine, leaving a smooth, finished surface. Suitable for use on a wide variety of materials and for many different tasks.
7448 (Gray) – Ultra fine finishing action outperforms steel wool for cleaning, blending, prepping and finishing on metal, wood, plastics and composites. Performs like steel wool grade 00 without shredding, rusting, or splintering

Totally worth it. The maroon/grey/white pads are roughly equivalent to 400/800/1000 grit. Easy to cut to size. The white pad is perfect for polishing frets and removing oxidation and gunk from other metal like knobs, washers, and nuts. It’ll also deburr the bridge saddles, but note that it may remove chome plating over brass.

Those are great and do not make a mess like the steel wool. I use the red, grey and white all the time.
Works great with water base stain and varvish like Samans products as they do not leave steel residue that may create rust spots.
Polishing frets is a breeze. I also use them to make a brushed satin on chrome and gold plating (bridges,
tuners, tremolos, pick-up covers, screw heads, etc.) but I apply very low pressure on the pads and add just a bit of WD 40 oil.
They last a very long time.
Since I have those. I have steel wool to give away!

Worth snagging some of these if you are into finish work or altering finish to get if it a smoother satin feel.
