Description
The 50s Burstbuckerâ„¢ Underwound has all of the features of the standard 50s Burstbucker, but with fewer windings on the bobbins, resulting in a pickup with clearly defined overtones and harmonics. It has a bit less output in the rhythm position, making it an ideal match when paired with a standard 50s Burstbucker in the treble position.
On the shop floor of the original Gibson plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the earliest Gibson Patent Applied For humbuckers were wound using imprecise machines, resulting in pickups with varying degrees of output and tone. The 50s Burstbucker Underwound represents Gibson’s drive to recapture the magic of the original Patent Applied For humbucker™ pickups. The Gibson 50s Burstbucker Underwound successfully captures the subtle variations of true, classic humbucker tone with historically unbalanced coil windings. They produce an airy, full tone, and when overdriven, they achieve a magical distortion with the slightly enhanced highs that made the originals famous.
Historically accurate Patent Applied For replica with fewer winds on the bobbins, a sweet, vintage-style tone, and unbalanced coils. Pairs perfectly with the 50s Burstbucker.
