Neck was constructed well and the maple and rosewood were of good quality. No twists or warping and truss rod functions nicely and fretwork was cleanly done.
The reasons I gave it a 4 in lieu of a 5 is because the headstock was damaged in shipping and I had to remove the sealer which I did not expect on a raw neck. I realize the damage was not directly Solo’s fault but it could have been packed better as there was very little protection to keep the item from bouncing around. Removing the sealer was critical since I was staining the wood.

Bought for a short scale acoustic bass project. Overall, good value for money, decent fret work. Comfortable profile even before finessing. The installed nut was very cheap plastic, replaced with Tusq. Neck arrived with slight back-bow, but was able to adjust it flat with the truss rod no problem. The grain alignment at the scarf joint isn’t the prettiest, but it will suffice. Two things to be aware of: 1) there is an obscene amount of sealer to be sanded off before you do anything else. 2) take your time laying out your centreline, and work from that – neither the neck heel nor the headstock edges are square to the center.
