Wax potting is common amongst guitar pickups to penetrate into the pickup coil helping to eliminate unwanted microphonics.  Beeswax is all natural and much more flexible compared to paraffin which is brittle.  Some pickup makers like to use a combination of both with a mix of 80/20 mix (Paraffin/Beeswax)
