The Deal Zone

Happy hot summer!!!  Way hot summer.  Hope everyone out there is getting some outside time with their friends and families.  Personally, the entire concept of “enjoying the heat” is lost on me.  I’m not a heat guy, never was, never will be, so as you can imagine, I am a huge fan of air-conditioning.  It’s keeping me cool and keeping my guitars at a relative humidity level and um keeping me cool (did I mention I’m not a heat guy lol).  Anyway, it’s been a hot summer here at Solo as well with some very cool stuff coming down the chute to you loyal Solo-ites!  I’m sure you have noticed the Ibanez parts in our website catalogue (look for them in the New Arrivals pull-down), also, the CopperSound DIY products.  We will be featuring those in an upcoming blog.  Theres always some cool new toys showing up, so keep tuned to the New Arrivals pages.

This month, I wanted to direct your attention to the Deal Zone!  If you haven’t bothered to look through these pages, maybe it’s time you did.  For those uninitiated in the readership, the Deal Zone is where we offer some truly great deals for a few different reasons.  The Deal Zone is broken down into 3 categories…Special Offers, Clearance and B-Stock.  The B-Stock section is further broken down into 2 categories.  I’ll do my best to explain.

To begin with, the Special Offers are sale items, pretty much like anyone else has.  We could be offering these items because we want to promote them, because we are passing along a special price or because the item is simply new.  Right now, we have $23 Gig Bags, some very useful soldering accessories and our own Solo Anti-static Soldering mats, Solo Aprons and Solo Workbench Mats… to mention a few.

The Clearance pages are items that are new but possibly discontinued by us or that have been replaced by other items.  In some cases, the items may not have sold as well as we expected, so we would like to offer them at a discount so we can make room for better products which are more suited to you, our loyal customers. Quite often you can find some excellent deals here and as an example we have the last of our Carl Martin pedal line.  These high-quality pedals and power supply’s are all analog and designed by my old friend Soren Jongberg (rip) in Denmark.  What we have in stock include some of my favorite fx. We also have some great finishing supplies and a selection of very high-quality table saw (or chop saw) blades.

Finally, we have the B-Stock Items.  The B-Stock section is where you will find the highest discounts we offer. These items are separated to B-Stock and B-Stock Plus listings.  B-Stock Plus listings include pictures of the affected areas (the reason these items are on this page) and a description of the issue.  The regular B-Stock items will not have photos or descriptions but will therefore have a higher discount.  All of our products are carefully inspected before they leave on their journey to you, and if for some reason, they do not meet our quality standards, they come here….to the B-Stock listings.  Problems or issues could include anything from shipping damage, nicks and dents, grading issues all the way to warped necks, cracks in the wood, blemishes or poor machining by our factories.  They can also include returns or special deals we have found.  All B-Stock items are sold as-is, with no warranty and as a final sale (no returns).  Right now, in our B-Stock Plus listings, you can find some very cool kits, bodies and body blanks.  The regular B-Stock items include some very super-quality Schaller Bass Tuners, Schaller Guitar Tuners and a whole raft of electric and acoustic bodies that are marked down 50%!

Anyway, I hope I have tickled your curiosity to at least take a look.  In other Solo affairs, I still have those very expensive Martin Titanium Acoustic Strings on one of my custom hand-made acoustic guitars.  It’s been about 8 months now and no they no-longer sound new…but they do sound pretty darn good!  They keep tune as well and as much as I am not a big fan of these super high-priced strings…Martin is kind of living up to their promises (in my opinion). I have also been convincing some truly interesting people to agree to a Solo Blog interview.  I’d like to hear from you, our loyal customers and readers as to whom you’d like to read about.  Right now, I have a guy who owned Canada’s largest backline company (if you aren’t familiar with backline, it’s all the drums, keyboards, amplifiers and instruments used in performances and on tours by bands and shows), I have an award winning recording engineer-producer who finally just finished his own album, I also have a world-class guitar tech who has been on the road with bands like Shinedown, Lamb of God, FFDP and many more and as well a truly gifted musician with a quirky little store who has crossed the bridge from hard rock to classic rock and acoustic stylings.  Let me know if you’d like to hear about these people and some of their adventures in this crazy wacky world of music.  Keep an eye on the www.sologuitars.com websites for new stuff and keep on playing…it will help keep you sane in this crazy world we are living in!!!
