The Pioneers of Rock ‘N Roll Guitar Strings
With the guitar-based rock revival of the 1960s, veteran player and guitar teacher Ernie Ball discovered players struggling to effectively hold down and bend the stiff heavy gauge strings of the time. In 1962 Ernie introduced Ernie Ball Slinky strings sets 10-46, re-defiining the way a string set felt, sounded, and most importantly gave guitarists the ability to use the guitar as a lead voice in popular music. Slinky strings pioneered the string gauges that virtually all string manufacturers use today and have set the industry standard for over half a century.
