UNREAL. I bought the first set. In the neck position look out SRV sound all day long, 4 th position little wing, middle and position 2, Allman brothers, ZZ Top, Lynryd Skynyrd, Buddy Guy and my sound Buddy Mack all day long. In my opinion they are better than the Texas Specials but the 57/62’s are the very best Fender make. But for me and my southern style TEX-MEX is the sound of Buddy Mack.

I do not use the bridge pickup straight it is to hard on peoples ears. Buddy Guy in 2004 told me to put hot glue in the selector switch groove to stop the selector from going to the bridge and since then every guitar I have played live I have done that. To compensate for output I lower the neck pickup to the pickgaurd, set an 1/8 th inch from strings on the bridge, and the middle one in between. That gives a very powerful second positions that doesn’t kill your audience. The rule is if you don’t like your ears hurting, they won’t either.

Another comment that should be made. It could be just my set but I doubt it. If you are thinking about adding a “TREBLE BLEED” you will not need it with these. These pickups remain the very same in tone from volume 10-3, 3-2 is the cut out point. The neck is exceptionally clear at very low volumes. These are way beyond worth the price as an upgrade. They are very, very dynamic in all applications especially covering SRV.
