The 60s Burstbucker™ Underwound has all of the features of the standard 60s Burstbucker, but with fewer windings on the bobbins, resulting in a pickup with clearly defined overtones and harmonics. It has a brighter tone in the rhythm position, making it an ideal match when paired with a standard 60s Burstbucker in the treble position.

On the shop floor of the original Gibson plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the earliest Gibson Patent Applied For humbuckers were wound using imprecise machines, resulting in pickups with varying degrees of output and tone. The 60s Burstbucker Underwound represents Gibson’s drive to recapture the magic of the original Patent Applied For humbucker™ pickups. The Gibson 60s Burstbucker Underwound successfully captures the subtle variations of true, classic humbucker tone with historically unbalanced coil windings. They produce an airy, full tone, and when overdriven, they achieve a magical distortion with the slightly enhanced highs that made the originals famous.

The 60s Burstbucker Underwound features an Alnico 5 magnet for a slightly brighter tone. The 60s Burstbucker Underwound is potted to eliminate microphonic feedback and comes equipped with vintage braided two-conductor wiring.

Historically accurate Patent Applied For replica with fewer winds on the bobbins, an airy, bright tone, and unbalanced coils. Pairs perfectly with the 60s Burstbucker.
