This is the third telecaster in my guitar collection. My first is a Fender Player II, second is the semi-hollow body kit with two f holes from SOLO and this SOLO Pro Tele. I love them all and this SOLO Pro is no exception. It arrived perfectly assembled and balanced. It feels great, looks incredibly beautiful and sounds great. At this point, I see no reason to upgrade the pickups as the guitar has a sound that adds nicely to the collection. The whole guitar is so well finished, but I am particularly pleased with the roasted maple neck and fret board.

I got the Butterscotch Pro TC 51 model and I am delighted with it. The finish is outstanding and I love the way the neck feels. The setup is good out of the box, although the relief is a little bit low for me and I have a couple of buzzing/dead frets. I called Solo and they answered right away and said they’d fix it no problem. Great service! The only change I’ll make is better strings, but again, that’s just personal preference. I’ll probably buy another one, but with the single coil neck pick up next.

Pros-
-the roasted maple neck is great/fast and I love the 12” fingerboard radius and c shape thats gets really comfortable once you play it for a bit,
-it plays consistently all the way up to the high D, frets are finished perfectly (no tangs),
-sounds great acoustically, lots of sustain, warm and even all the way up the neck,
-fit and finish on the body is great, -gets really really close with intonation with the 3 saddles (talking out a few cents)
-the tusq nut is a nice touch,
-tuners are fine (they do what the should, no creaks or weirdness).
-the colour is perfect, and looks exactly like a ‘59, right down to being semi transparent so you can see the wood grain. I cant see any joint lines so I’m pretty sure its a solid slab.
Cons-
-pickups don’t do the guitar any favours but I’d expected this (I’m replacing them with Seymour Duncans before I play it live)
-the nut is proud of the fretboard on the sides (no biggy, but should’ve been caught),
-I had to adjust the truss rod and saddles but I’m fussy so I always expect this.
– a little bit if roughness between the 8-11th fret on the bass side, but I believe it’ll smooth out with play time, if not 0000 steel wool will fix it.
It’s heavy, like Les Paul heavy, but that’s the ash body so it’s not a con, it just is what it is.
Overall it’s amazing 9-10, because nothings perfect right? It will do anything a custom shop tele will do once the new pups are in it. I’ll fix the little things. My buddy, who owns a few US tele’s was floored by its playability and acoustic tone as well as by the quality of the neck and finish. Personally, I cant wait for the new pups so when I play it live I can see the looks of respect when the gear snobs realize it’s a Solo!!!
