Kevin Keith (verified buyer) –
Makes a beautiful smooth finish with a quicker film build, and dries hard enough to lightly sand between coats when needed after about 20 to 30 minutes. I had used another brand of satin luthier lacquer for years, but when it became unavailable I tried Oxford after hearing how other luthiers liked it. Oxford comes rather thick and recommends reducing about 20 to 40%, which was necessary. It also does not settle out a large solids deposit on the bottom after sitting for a long time, and when stirred stays clear. I had to dial in the HVLP settings for it on my gun to get it right and reduced the right amount. The spraying temperature and humidity range is narrower than what I was used to, so I sprayed indoors in a humidity and temperature controlled area, rather than risk my usual outdoor spraying. I am in Houston where it is particularly hot and humid right now. One advantage of the necessity to thin, is the quart makes more than just a quart of usable material.
