Overall, I really dig this SOLO STRING Height Gauge. Like Paul D noted, it’s super convenient to have both metric and SAE units on the one tool. The pickup height feature is a shagadelic extra that’s handy dandy to have at hand too.
The markings are just as clear and crisp to read as those on my StewMac String Action gauge; however, the Stewie one is definitely more robust – being easily twice as thick. Alas, the Stewie jobbie is also 3x the cost of this one, and comes with an exorbitant shipping rate (not so bad if you’re placing a large order with Stew Mac, I guess . . .). I’m not a machinist measuring under a microscopic lens, but on my humble bench with a simple magnifying glass, this one comes across as being just as accurate as my StewMac String Action gauge.
I do like the solidness and thickness of the StewMac String Action gauge, but if this SOLO Pro gidgety gadget had been available three years ago, when I bought my StewMac one, I most likely would have just gone with SOLO.

Four out of five stars, because the SOLO gauge is a little too light and thin for my liking. There is a possibility that you could bend this very thin gauge if you’re careless with it. I don’t recommend throwing it into a toolbox with heavy pliers, wrenches, and such. I keep mine off to its own little corner of my bench, safely away from my other tech tools (mauls, large socket sets, hydraulic jacks, and such) *Silly Grin.
