The guitar itself is gorgeous. The two-tone neck is immaculate while the body was well finished and ready to be painted. The two star deduction comes from the electronics and the customer service. I spent days troubleshooting the electronics on this unit and customer support offered few solutions and took days to respond between interactions. I am apparently getting another harness mailed out so I will need to remove the current one and start over. Five stars for the guitar itself! Two stars for the experience.

This has to be the most beautiful bass kit on the market! The neck is gorgeous and the ash body is amazing. I just did an oil finish over the natural wood and couldn’t be happier with how it looks. Assembly went smoothly, everything fit (not a given on some guitar kits), and the hardware feels and looks good. The wiring is more complex than your average strat but if you’re comfortable with wiring diagrams it’s not bad. The EQ adjustments that make the wiring more complex work great and add a lot to the experience of playing the bass. After a good setup and fret leveling this plays like a $1000+ bass.

The kit was complete and as described in the product description. The body is well made and is sanded very well. The neck is the same and looks great with the light back and dark fingerboard. This was finisher with Water-based stains and the body finished with Brite-Tone clear gloss water-based finish. The neck was stained, sealed and Tung-oil finished except the headstock was stained to match the body, sealed and then a gloss finish. The neck to body fit was excellent. The deduction came from the hardware. The controls were average at best and the pickups were not very good even with the active controls. The bridge and tuners were very good though. Don’t even bother with the included strings. Just purchase a set of Rotosound strings and install them. Overall, this is a good kit and if you take your time, do some reading on wiring/set-up and don’t rush, you can produce a very nice bass.

Great kit, neck and body were very good – I actually bought a B stock + and couldn’t see anything wrong with it. – maybe a few scratches which sanded out. Fretwork was good – needed some minor filing which was expected. Neck adjusted well. Bridge and machine heads are good – no issues. Pickup cavities were very tight, had difficulty getting the pickups in but a bit of fettling sorted that out. Cut the wires on one pickup while trying to fit it with the sharp edge of the bottom of the pickup, repaired but a bit of a hassle. Would recommend filing a round guide in the bottom of the pickup and taping the wire to avoid having this happen. Some minor drilling for some screw holes and trimming the back cavity cover to fit was required.

Wiring was complete except for soldering in the connections to the pickups. Missing one nut and washers for a pot but had some on hand. Screws for the truss rod cover weren’t the greatest fit so substituted those.

Overall would recommend it, one star off for minor missing components but not a big deal. it wouldn’t hurt to include the instructions and wiring diagram with the kit as well though it is available on the website.

Setup was straightforward and it plays well after a bit of adjustment. Strings that come with the kit are adequate for an initial setup but buy a proper set once that is complete.
