I have bad depth perception due to astigmatism, so fool-proof tools like this are a lifesaver. I used the largest size bar on my new Telecaster neck’ nut, and got perfectly cut slots on my first try.

These are very firm. It would be much better if they were flexible so they could conform to the fretboard radius.

These bars are great for cutting or touching up nut slots. They prevent you from cutting too deep into the nut. As stated in one of the other reviews, they are firm and not flexible. That is because the material is hard to prevent you from cutting into the bar and hence too deep into the fret. A softer, flexible material would be too easy to file into accidentally. The harder material also ensures the bars last longer. Just make sure when you are cutting/filing the nut that the bar is in contact with the fretboard at the spot where you are filing. that will make sure the nut is the correct depth, assuming your calculations and measurements are correct.
