Gorgeous color but the mixture is way too thin to achieve a proper wet coat. I’m going to be spraying clear for weeks to get a flat finish I’m not afraid to level sand. I’m not a painter by trade but I’ve done plenty of self-mixed tinted nitro lacquer finishes with my equipment. This was the first metallic I’ve tried. My equipment is basic but it has enough pressure for great clear and tinted nitro finishes. All I could get with this was a dry powdercoat. I could only get a wet coat by using half the normal feed rate and distance on small areas. That requires tedious overlapping coats which take forever. I’m left with a guitar body which looks great but feels like sandpaper. It doesn’t make sense that it says it can be thinned up to 40%. My can was already almost water thing after mixing. It was like spraying a budget low solids / high fast dry solvent aerosol not a high grade mix. Maybe this needs a higher pressure setting than my system can do. I’m very disappointed. By the way weather was perfect because I sprayed clear gloss that same day with no problem. I also emailed Oxford directly with questions before I bought it and they didn’t answer. I’ll be looking at other brands next time.

All the Oxford paints I’ve used have been great! The colours are accurate to the actual Fender examples. I’ve never had the experience the above reviewer is describing saying that the paint is very thin. I always add lacquer thinner to the Oxford paints – approx. 20% – and have NEVER had coverage problems. After thinning the LPB I was able to get complete coverage over a white base in 4 coats. I can get nice wet coats without any issues. Great stuff!
