Not the most precise/accurate fret rocker. A couple of the sides are a bit slanted and not perfectly 90 degrees. The price reflects the quality. Machining could be better.

Don’t know what others got but the one I got is a great tool. I gave it to a friend of mine who runs a machine shop he checked it out said it was wright there for accurate. I would say to any who want to do there own set up’s get one.

No dangerously sharp edges because the the edges and corners have been slightly relieved. NIce and thick. Can’t give it 5 stars because the 2nd longest side is not flat by about a .001″. Checked it against three different PEC precision squares. Still accurate enough for fret rocking.

Seriously though, this is a very nice fret rocker. The SOLO fret rocker is a good weight – not too light, not overly heavy. It’s well machined and free of burrs and sharp edges, so it’s comfortable to hold and use. Still, I recommend caution, because you don’t want to accidentally scratch your frets and/or fretboard. This one is half the price of Stewmaxx . . . I guess branding and engraving are expensive, huh?

First I would like to say I am a fan of solomusicgear. They are helpful with any concerns or questions. The other solo brand stuff I bought were great tuners/tools. I am a little perplexed from all the high reviews for the solo fret rocker. Aluminum is all you need. Fret rockers do not need to be made from a heavy piece of solid steel. It adds weight that isn’t needed along with other issues. Because of this, Solo thought it would be a great idea to round the corners to help lessen the damage from the weight of this thing if it drops on your guitar. This brings another problem. How to check your first and last fret if they are high.
You slide the long end of the fret rocker with the “point” forward towards the first and last fret. You check along the whole length of the fret in case just one spot of the fret is high or the whole fret. If the point hits the fret you feel it and/or the fret rocker bounces up. Thanks to the rounded corners you can’t do it with this fret rocker. Another concern is sliding solid steel across your nickel frets can increase the risk of scratching your frets. Especially if you accidentally scrape the sharp edges/corners of this rocker along the top of the frets compared to aluminum. Even if they are stainless steel frets I still wouldn’t like it. On a positive note. It’s cheap and you will probably never damage this fret rocker. One star for the fret rocker and one for solomusicgear because I’m a fan. Solo, make one precise from aluminum with the point intact.
