I found the original tail piece spacing was too wide on my professional series jaguar purchased new in 2019. Strings were not centered over the pickup poles and the high E string would slide off or catch on the edge of the neck on the higher frets. The narrower spacing on this tail piece greatly improved the playability the guitar. I was seriously considering selling the guitar before making this change. Keeping it now!

This is what you want to convert a Classic Player Jazzmaster with the AOM bridge. Don’t pay attention to all the blogs where they are talking about M8 grub screws, pulling the studs, threading the grub screws from underneath, spacers, springs locktite, etc. Very simply take a drill and a 1/4″ bit and drill out the studs on this new bridge assembly from the top down. This way the bit centers itself in the hole. If there are any rough edges on the underside after the posts are drilled out they are easily smoothed by running the drill bit up from underneath. Now loosen the strings on your Classic Player Jazzmaster just enough to lift the the top half of the original AOM bridge off its posts and replace it with your new Fender bridge. You will be using the existing thumb wheel posts to adjust the height of your new bridge. The post spacings match perfectly between the two and of course the new unit has the 9.5″ radius and matches perfectly with that of the fingerboard now. Immediately you will notice the sound improves immensely as does the tremolo action. Take the two drilled out posts along with the top of the AOM bridge and fire them into the bush. You won’t be needing them anymore.
