great guitar….take your time to build it…all parts that come with the kit are good…..the only problem was that the holes for the bridge were almost the same size. ..this was a bit sloppy and needed to use epoxy to tighten up…I have notified them and let them know…plugged it in and it sounded great…..more kits in the near future…………….

This is a pretty good guitar for the price. Solo was great to deal with in terms of a quick blemish issue and replacement guitar. No complaints here! Only problem I have is figuring out the best way to finish a spalted top. Like the previous reviewer said, be careful with this one because finished properly this has the potential to be a very nice guitar. Mohogany body, half inch or so maple and then a very thin spalted veneer. Should take oil really nicely. Also would suggest from experience you invest in a really good set of locking tuners, rest of the included parts are very good but the tuners are a bit on the cheap side.

Amazing guitar was my first ever kit from SOLO and honestly I play it more than my genuine Gibson Les Paul. All I upgraded were my pickups used StewMac Golden Age Humbuckers then coil tapped it. I left the spalted maple veneer natural just used a little fine steel wool to smooth it out. The body, neck, and headstock were all finished with a gunstock finish. All in all my favorite guitar and I’ve got about 40 in total thank you guys for the lovely quality instruments you produce! 🙂

Great kit! Everything fit together perfectly.

I applied multiple coats of Crimson Guitars Finishing Oil and then two coats of poly for a high gloss finish on the spalted maple veneer.
I upgraded the tuners and installed Seymour Duncan Custom SH-5 and ’59 Neck pickups.

The frets needed to be leveled, but that wasn’t completely unexpected.

In hindsight, I would’ve started with a simpler kit (like an ST or TC) and then gone with the set neck version of this guitar.

All in all, I am very pleased with the quality of the kit and how it turned out.

Ordered this guitar and showed up three days later. Wow! Package was perfect and everything looked great. Still in the process of finishing but so far very pleased. Frets were nice and smooth on the ends. If you go for the spalted maple make sure to fill the grain. I used wood dye and tru-oil and there are some low spots that tru-oil just doesn’t fill. Sand the front as little as possible. Thin veneer! Very happy with my purchase. Great company and very responsive if you have a question or concern.
