Great deal. Bass wood body ,maple neck .Hot PUs. Neck pocket needed a little tidying up ,nut had to be reslotted. neck alingement right on.Personally chose to upgrade pots and input jack. Intonation right on.You gotta start off with good wood.Half of what it would cost from other suppliers and hardware to boot. I’m not one for fancy finishes so i was playing in 2 days.I’ve been playing and giging for 50 years.Played ’em all. This is a good deal.More than what I expected for my money.Don’t get me wrong it ain’t a $2000 guitar, but for the money, sweet.Take care.

the quality of the guitar was good. nice neck of course you have to fine tune but the direction came whit the guitar is easy to understand. the only thing is the cavity for the 3 way selector is not the right deep i cant screw it in place whit the plastic ring and miss the six screw for headstock tuner if one of those day i buy another diy kit i take it from solomusic gear buy it december 2017 and receve it few days later

Good solid kit for beginners. Neck was described to me as a bit “clubby”. I did not find it so, and am looking forward to finish and play. Pre-fit of parts showed close tolerances on laser cut outs. Was pleased with that, particularly on neck to body fit (will not require shims, etc.) Overall am expecting
this kit guitar will make a great addition to my personal line up.

Just great…. For hand skilled person of course. I need to do a little bit of adjustement for the neck to fit correctly and mine had a little too much angle for an LP, so just remove a little bit of wood to be as i want…. And really fast shipping, i receive it in 3 days…
I will try another model soon, so i recommend it….

Very happy with my Les Paul kit. Build went flawlessly following the instructions. If you’re looking to build a kit, you will be very happy with Solomusicgear.

This was a ton of fun to build! Everything fit perfectly and I think the guitar sounds preyty good. The only thing I would change is that the pots came with some of the connections pre-soldered. I was looking forward to soldering all the connections myself but since this was my first build, my first electric guitar I’ve ever owned, and the first time I’ve really soldered electronic connections, I’m still really pleased and kind of grateful some of the work was done. I would definitely buy another kit from Solo. I just have to decide if the next one is a strat or tele.

It was so much fun to build this kit, and trust me, it sounds awesome!
The neck was perfectly straight, only some minor work needed to make the fret smooth
Body holes were perfectly drilled, all good there.
After lots of work with sand paper and painting, I put the kit together: neck-body was the perfect match! Man, this kit was well done!
Electronics went in like a charm. Colours of the wires were different from the diagram available online, but I figure it out (after some time!)
This was my best project so far, and I am truly enjoying playing it! Pay attention European users, I had to pay about 30 euros extra due to custom. It was worth it though!
I would buy it again with no hesitation (and probably I will!!)

This is my 3rd Solo Guitar build, and I must say, not the best one. I’m not sure if I received a “factory second”, but right off the bat, there were issues. The hole for the wires from the 3-way toggle switch through the body to the neck pick-up was never pre-drilled. This required me to purchase a very long 1/4inch drill to drill the hole myself. A quick call to Solo, and the guys were right on top of it. (excellent customer support).

Next issue, the prewired pots were sloppy. Ground wires and leads were not only shorted-out due to poor soldering skills, but also miss-wired completely. So I needed to correct that.

As for the components, they are woefully substandard (particularly the 3-way toggle switch) which needed to be replaced outright.

The hole for the 1/4inch jack into the body was not completely drilled and needed to be routed-out to seat the jack properly.

So— there was a lot of unanticipated “work” needed on this one before I could get to the fun part of putting it together. The neck— required fret-leveling and end work to be smooth. BUT— it’s a kit, and that’s what kits are all about.

I finished the guitar as I did with my previous Tele and 12-string Strat (see my reviews) —with Keda-dye and 15 coats of Tru-oil, resulting in a beautiful “root beer” mahogany body and neck, with woodgrain that really looks spectacular.

As for stringing and tuning, like before, the supplied strings were only used for preliminary building— then replaced with a good set. This guitar (like all Les Pauls) has serious tuning and intonation issues. These were corrected by replacing the nut – and in this case, also adding a “string-butler” to correct the Gibson-style string path to the tuners (low-end, also an issue with this kit).

ALL THAT SAID— I’m still giving this guitar 5-Stars. Why? Because it’s a kit and I like a challenge. This one took more work than the others, but the end result is a very nice and very playable Les Paul Jr. (It’s not an LP.) Because the body is mahogany, it’s light as a feather and it made a perfect gift to my daughter. And the 24” Gibson scale is more suited to her smaller hands. So–yes, 5-stars.

I recently purchased the LPK – 1 kit. I love this guitar. I only had a few issues.
    1) The wiring diagram had different colored wires than the kit. This was easy enough to figure out.
    2) The 4th fret was just a bit high on the treble side. Easy fix.
    3) I’m a fan of Grover tuning machines so I replaced the ones that came with the kit.

I upgraded the nut and I’ll probably change the pickups.
The fact is, I didn’t want something that would just snap together with no thought or effort so I’m giving this kit 5 stars! The neck is BEAUTIFUL! I’m also giving the service department 5 stars. I would send an email with a question at night and wake up to a reply in the morning. The delivery came within the time frame expected. I then purchased the black Les Paul guitar case with skulls. BEAUTIFUL CASE! Thank you, Solo. It was a great project during the quarantine. I’m looking forward to my next build.
