This is a very good kit, easy to build. The neck to body joint was excellent. The only problem I had was the nut, it was not wide enough to fit the finger board and the string spacing was too narrow. I replaced the nut with a Tusq XL nut and all was good. You do need some special tools to do this job, nut files for the string slots. You have to careful when removing the old nut as the finger board can be damaged. The frets were well dressed and all the routing is good. Overall a good kit.

Fair kit, decent body, neck had a crack at the number 6 position for the tuner hole, body had a small crack at the neck pocket. I repaired both using CA glue and clamping. Should have gotten pictures but forgot, guitar is finished and ready for delivery to my client.
This makes the third guitar I’ve have small issues with. Custome service was excellent on the first one, I didn’t report the issues with the other two but sure they would have been just as responsive as with first.

This is my first diy kit. I’m retired and didn’t want to do any soldering so this seemed like an excellent choice. The grain on the alder was a bit strange on the upper half of the body, but now I think it gives it a degree of personality. One of the tuners wouldn’t tighten properly. The company sent a new one out right away same day. That’s excellent service. I think the nut slots are a bit high but I think that is so that I can adjust them to my preference. Haven’t got around to that yet. I had to file down all the fret edges since they were a bit sharp. Not a big deal there and again I would expect that due to some wood shrinkage in storage. The guitar plays just fine. I enjoyed doing this so much that I am very definitely considering buying another kit.

I bought this guitar kit because I did not have a telecaster and wanted to finish one the way I like it. This was my first kit guitar so I don’t have anything to compare it to but I certainly did not expect everything to be perfect. I full expected to be upgrading most of the hardware. I am very happy with Solo’s product and the finished end result. Very easy to assemble. The neck-to-body fit/alignment was the most important thing to me and it could not have been better with the minor exception of the left pickguard edge slightly overhanging the neck pocket so it needed to be filed down a bit to get the neck in the slot – no big deal. (The pre-drilled pickguard alignment also had a very slight clockwise rotation to it). Low E tuner bushing would not quite thread on to tuner because the headstock was too thick – just needed some extra sanding – no big deal. Volume/tone knobs have a scratchy feel. Fret end dressings were very good and this just needed a bit more extra attention – I like to dress these the way I like them anyway. 4th fret was sitting slightly high – just needed a little tap down and some spot levelling but the rest of the fret levels were very good. Back of the body had a few rough spots – I should’ve added some grain filler before sanding and painting but I did not bother and it all turned out good. The pickups sounded much better than I had expected. I would not hesitate to recommended Solo’s product.
